The Blue Mountains, located west of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia, is a rugged area famous for its stunning landscapes, which include cliffs, eucalyptus forests, waterfalls, and charming villages filled with guesthouses, galleries, and gardens. The mountains obtain their blue hue from eucalyptus oil droplets the trees release, mixed with dust and water vapour. Although the Blue Mountains date back about 300 million years, the rocks underlying them are believed to be around 470 million years old, making them nearly ten times older than the Grand Canyon. For thousands of years, the Gundungurra and Darug people have inhabited this region, with evidence of their long history evident in the rock art and carvings throughout the area.
